“Every birth is unique and transformative. As your doula I will honour your choices, hold space for your emotions and nurture your journey.”
frequently asked questions.
-
A birth doula provides emotional and physical support, along with resources and birth preparation to an expecting family prenatally, during birth and shortly after.
-
Maternity wards are busy places and midwives tend to care for more than one woman at a time. Even if you are able to access primary midwifery care in a group practice, or a home birth midwife, a doula can still be an asset. Doulas offer support that complements the care women receive from hospital midwives.
-
No, a doula will compliment your partner’s role in the birthing process. I work alongside your partner, creating a supportive and empowering environment for both of you.
-
Doulas support ALL kinds of birth. A lot of people imagine doulas supporting home births or think doulas are only for the ‘crunchy’ families. While that may be a stereotype for doulas, a large majority of doulas can be found in hospitals and birth centres and supporting ALL types of births.
-
That every person’s birth experience is unique and personal. I recognise that what might be the right approach for one, may not be the same for another. I provide non judgemental and inclusive support to all birthing people regardless of their choices or circumstances.
